Poverty isn't seasonal, which is why your help is so greatly needed. Devote an afternoon to stocking our pantry, helping sort thrift store items, or tutoring a struggling GED student and see first-hand the families we help daily.

Our mission is to provide emergency assistance to families experiencing financial crisis through the provision of rent/mortgage, utilities and food and to promote the interest of the communities served through educational, charitable and service-oriented activities.

In 1963, Jewell Westmoreland, a citizen of Mesquite and community activist, founded Mesquite Social Services (MSS) to provide immediate, short-term assistance for those living in Mesquite. Mesquite Social Services strengthens families in financial crisis by supporting their basic needs such as food, financial assistance of rent, mortgage, and utilities along with empowering them with information on referral agencies and programs. Our service area now includes Mesquite, Balch Springs, Seagoville, Sunnyvale, and MISD families in Garland & Dallas.
